Official project updates
- Add grace period on serving system disconnects since they’re often followed very quickly by a reconnect when moving between cell towers. This fixes an issue where TCP connections would unnecessarily be terminated and only to reconnect a second later.
- Changes
- Improve device detection by using 0-byte writes on some I2C addresses and 1-byte reads on others. This matches the i2c-tools heuristic and detects at least on more device that wasn’t detected before.
- Simplified NIF by deleting a lot of flexibility that didn’t end up being useful. Also moved functionality around so that it could be implemented more simply.
This release fixes warnings when compiled with Elixir 1.15. It removes support for Elixir 1.9.

- Generate and post docs to hex.pm so that hyperlinks work when calling NervesLivebook functions
- Update Nerves systems to nerves_system_br 1.22.3 versions. This includes Erlang 25.2.3 and an update for Rust support. Libraries using Rust aren’t included yet due to an issue on 32-bit platforms, but will likely be included in the next release.

This release removes the ability to specify an alternative JSON codec with :json_codec config option and defaults to using Jason. If set, everything will function as normal but you will see a compiler warning.

- Default to adding -code_path_choice strict to new projects to skip a few unnecessary path searches for archives
- Default to moving the clock forward in erlinit. This reduces the time jump on boot for RTC-less devices.

TFLite with Nx and Nerves
Cocoa is on a tear and (I believe sponsored by EEF) getting us inference on Nerves devices. This is a demo with a Pi Zero and a Coral TPU. Watch the terminal recording as well :)
Nerves Meetup in March
The next Nerves meetup is on the 29th of March and Mike Ratcliff will walk through why GridPoint transitioned to Nerves as the embedded framework for their energy management controllers. See the event page here.

We want to encourage everyone to contribute in whatever way works for them. Here are some ways we currently recommend:
- Write or port a new hardware library and include it in the Elixir Circuits collection.
- Give money to the project via Open Collective.
- Get in touch about taking over maintenance duties for some libraries, we might be able to provide you hardware.
- Apply for an EEF stipend on something Nerves-related and build it. We can help if you have questions about this.
- Send corrections or improvements for documentation wherever it fails to help you.
- Write about Nerves, give talks about Nerves. Make videos about Nerves. It is all good.
