Official project updates
The Nerves core team gathered up and has been working on some improvements. Frank has mentioned documentation getting some focus. I'm excited to see what comes of it :)
Support WiFi configuration when making the MicroSD card when using fwup. Thanks to @mnishiguchi for this.
Update Livebook to v0.6.1
VintageNet Wizard is a very neat way to set up wifi for a new device by letting your user connect to it and help it with wifi configuration. This avoids the need for providing wifi config in some other way.
- Pass :infinity to the :inactivity_timeout option to keep the wizard running indefinitely regardless of user activity (@ConnorRigby)
Avoid overwriting connection details on shutdown (@paulanthonywilson)
Fixed issue when connecting to WPA2/3 networks due to deciding authentication needs based on the composite set flags supplied by the wpa_supplicant

This release requires Elixir 1.11 or later and VintageNet 0.12.0.
Add VintageNetEthernet.quick_configure to easily setup a wired Ethernet network that uses dynamic addressing.
This release requires VintageNet v0.12.0 and Elixir 1.11 or later. No external API changes or fixes were made. Other than the new version requirements, everything should work the same as v0.10.9.
If a network interface changes IP addresses, there would be a flurry of crashes when it was no longer possible to bind to the interface. This stops behavior and shuts down the responder for the interface.

Final call: Underjord.pre_hack/1 for Code BEAM in Stockholm 2022

As an entirely too enthusiastic participant in the Elixir ecosystem I wanted to do something for folks attending Code BEAM in Stockholm where me and my team will be. Frank Hunleth is fortunately joining us to bring that Nerves flair. I'll be there to help with Phoenix and LiveView.
Together we cause shenanigans. If you are planning on attending Code BEAM, can be there a full day early and want to make friends and get ready for the conference in style, check out our event. Should be a good time!

We want to encourage everyone to contribute in whatever way works for them. Here are some ways we currently recommend:
- Write or port a new hardware library and include it in the Elixir Circuits collection.
- Give money to the project via Open Collective.
- Get in touch about taking over maintenance duties for some libraries, we might be able to provide you hardware.
- Apply for an EEF stipend on something Nerves-related and build it. We can help if you have questions about this.
- Send corrections or improvements for documentation wherever it fails to help you.
- Write about Nerves, give talks about Nerves. Make videos about Nerves. It is all good.
